Honestly, what would I do without Moda fabrics? Life would be dull, that's for sure. These fabrics are all from the "Fall Back in Time" line by Sandy Gervais. This line is a wonderful eclectic mix of designs. Rich, earthy colors dominate these fabrics -- walnut, pumpkin, juniper, gold, luscious teal, creamy cream, and eggplant. "Best Friend", $45

I have a new Best Friend. She's the perfect companion. She listens without giving advice. She always makes you look good. She only hangs around when she's wanted. She's sassy and hip and cute! She's a little loud, but that's a huge part of her appeal. Yup, Best Friend evah! This little number just might be an all-time favorite Hang Up of mine. Love the fabric combination! I received this fabric in the mail TODAY and was so excited to see what could be done with it that I whipped a tote up this afternoon. Dreamy -- absolutely dreeeamy. Here's the unveiling...

I ordered this fabric on Saturday and it was shipped yesterday. I received it in my mailbox today. Yippeeee! That's service! I haven't had an auction for quite some time, so I think we're long overdue! "Comfy Cozy" will be up for bids. This Hang Up is valued at $45. We'll start the bidding at $20. Each bid must be in dollar increments. Please make your bid in a comment below. Make sure I have a way to contact you if you make a bid. The auction will end on Monday, December 8th at midnight (mountain time). At that time the highest bidder will be awarded "Comfy Cozy." I will mail this tote free of charge -- first class mail. If you want to ensure a faster delivery, I will ask that you pay the difference in the cost of the postage.

The color combination of blue and brown is always a winner and then when you throw lime green into the mix, it's done! I've combined this beautiful fabric with a durable washed denim. I lied...

I lied. You know how earlier I led you all to believe I was going to have a little vacation this week? I had mentioned that I was going to spend my days dabbling my feet in the pool, working out in the gym, reading a good book, watching a little TV, eating a little better and a little more... Well, I tried it for a good 30 minutes, got bored, and decided to do a little sewing instead. Ladies, some people are blessed with the gift of relaxing and others are not. I go stir crazy if I have to lay around and "relax" for more than a half hour. You know those advertisements on TV that educate us about "restless leg syndrome?" Well, I have "restless body syndrome." I feel best when I'm busy. Don't feel too sorry for me though, because this little malady came in very handy when we were raising our seven kids. During that time, I never had the opportunity to rest, so, trust me, it has served me well. Anyway, instead of doing all those things I had planned, I sewed. Yup, I had my own little sweat shop set up in our local Marriott. That's me in the picture -- second from the left -- the one still working while all the others are taking a well-deserved break.

Thankful Thursday

What moved me this week?

This question has a double meaning for me this week. The question is both literal and emotional. Last Saturday we had to move all of our furniture off our main floor in preparation for the refinishing of our hardwood floors and the installation of our new carpet. The prospect of this overwhelmed me. Saturday morning my husband and I got up early and started the process. A little later that morning four male friends from church showed up at our house and within 30 minutes all the heavy objects were moved. Piano. Sofas. Curio. Grandfather clock. Dining room buffet. Dining room table. Five billion pound desk. And do you know what? They did it all with a smile on their faces. I have a feeling that Santa is going to be good to them this year!

What surprised me this week?

I'm so excited (and surprised). Everything is on schedule for the renovations. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a bit surprising? It is to me. It's not unusual for things to get hung up here or there and for schedules to become "tentative" rather than "set in stone." I'm so grateful that these jobs are all on schedule and that we will be able to move back into the home permanently on Saturday. Yippeee!

What inspired me this week?

I love studying the scriptures and trying to applying the lessons and principles taught therein to my own life. For me this is more easily done, when I'm fortunate enough to be in a classroom with a gifted teacher who inspires me to learn like that. We have a new Sunday School teacher at church. He is an inspiration. He's one of those individuals that is totally "at home" in the scriptures. There have been times in my life when I feel as if I've been a "casual visitor" of the scriptures, rather than a "familiar, best friend". I get the impression that that has never been the case with this new teacher. I would imagine that if this man sets his scriptures down on a bedside table before retiring for the night, that the book is open and that those pages aren't going to collect any dust. This teacher inspires me to dig deeper and learn more completely what is contained in those books.

Bloomin' Tuesday

We spent Thanksgiving week visiting family in northern California. It was heavenly. Even though Colorado has turned winter-brown, in northern California there are still flowers blooming. One day my daughter, mother, and I went shopping at Santana Row in San Jose. It's a beautiful outdoor pedestrian mall. It's worth visiting just to see the majestic potted urns and beautiful gardens lining the walkways. In preparation for the holidays the flower gardens were planted in red and white flowers and the planted urns were overflowing with luscious poinsettia plants. Here are some photos of those beauties...

In my opinion my cute daughter overshadows the flowers, but this picture shows you how tall and beautifully planted those urns are...

Here's the little boy version (blue) of the fabric designed by Anna Griffin for Windham Fabrics. This fabric is found in the "Hannah Collection" and I think the whole collection is so beautiful! "Bunnies and Chicks - Blue" has all the usual bells and whistles. Each Dwipe is fully lined and interfaced. It has a Velcro closure and a tab with a baby link attached. You may then add any baby toy to the link to help keep the baby "entertained" while he/she is being changed.
