It took four attempts, but I finally got the recipe right. A few days ago I embarked on the creation of a new clutch pattern. Four experiments later the pattern is just right. I love the earthy, textured feel of this wristlet.
On my fourth attempt I changed the muslin fabric to the bottom of the wristlet.
That change made all the difference in the world! Love the natural feel of this little clutch.
This one will make it to my Etsy later today.
That's the good news. The bad news is that earlier today my sewing machine stopped working properly. I took it to my favorite go to place for repairs and explained to the technician that it was making a loud "gluckit" sound. He stared at me with a blank expression. (It's frustrating trying to communicate with people who don't have a snippet of imagination.) When his wife came in the room -- she's the one that usually isolates the problem -- and I explained the problem for the second time, she nodded her head, lifted her eyebrows, and said "Ah, yes."
I'm hopeful they will be able to correct the problem, but in the meantime -- at least a week, I'm told -- I'm machineless. It's a helpless feeling when I've got a new wristlet pattern to try out, a new little girl tote pattern swimming around in my head, and some bedroom curtains to make.
I keep trying keep this little snafu in perspective. I know it's not the end of the world. Not important at all in the grand scheme of things. It's just that without that machine I have no good excuse not to do my spring cleaning. (I knew you would understand.)
