Douple-Dipper Give-Away Results . . .

I just finished reading all the comments left by readers of my blog giving tribute to the special women in their lives. If you need a boost, go to the comments in my post earlier today and read them for yourself. They are beautiful, loving testimonials of incredible women. My heart is full.

I mentioned to my daughter while I was reading all the beautiful comments that it was going to be terribly difficult having just one winner. It's times like this I'd like to be Oprah and give everyone in the "audience" a prize. {Dang.} If it was me picking the winner I'd never be able to choose, so I had a random number generator with no feelings or emotions do the dirty work. And the winner is...

Lucky #35 was...

Thanks to all those who participated in this contest and wrote such sweet thoughts!

Double -Dipper Six Hour Give -Away

{Sorry, but this contest is now closed.}

Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!

The other day when my Manfred Tooth Pillow was chosen by Amanda to be in the running at Today's Top 20 "Top Project of the Month", I hoped to get a few votes for quirky ol' Manfred. I quickly sent an email out to my family. I can always count on them to cast a vote or two, and then I added a little disclaimer to my readers in a couple of my posts to {please} head on over and throw a vote my way.  And many of you did. I truly appreciate those who voted and all the sweet comments, emails and support I get from my blogging friends on a daily basis. I am saving gobs of money that potentially could be spent babbling to therapists because you reinforce my positive self-image on a daily basis. (My husband is appreciative as well.)

 {My Little Chickadee Tote}

Here's how I'm going to prove my appreciation! For the next six hours I will host a Double-Dipper Give Away from my Etsy shop. The winner will be able to choose any item -- that's right -- any item from my shop for a mother or woman of her choice. It can be her own mother, a mother figure in her life, a sister, a friend, etc. But that's not all. Once the winner has chosen something for that special someone, she can also pick an item for herself! That's what I call a Double-Dipper Give-Away!

{Pink & Chocolate Wristlet}

Here are the specifics of the contest...
  • Make a comment below and your name will be submitted into the contest.
  • In your comment, please mention the first name of the person and your relationship to the intended recipient should you win the drawing. Also, please give us a little insight as to why you admire this person.
  • The winner and chosen recipient must live in the continental U.S. or Canada. (I will provide postage.)
  • Although each contestant can only nominate one person, the same person can be nominated more than once.
  • No anonymous comments. Please leave an email address or blog that I can visit. Private bloggers must leave their email address. If I don't have any way to contact you, your name will not be eligible.

{Darling Damask Dwipe}

This contest will run for just six hours -- until 12 noon (mountain time) on Wednesday, May 4th (that's today!) -- so those seeing this post will have a better-than-average chance of winning. I will announce the winner of the contest about two hours later. If I am able to contact the winner within the hour, I should be able to mail the item(s) today. Hopefully they will arrive before Mother's Day!

Good luck to all!

Announcing the Etsy Give Away winner...

...but first, I'd like to issue a ginormous "thank you" to all those who entered my Etsy Give Away, and then made the extra effort to vote for my blog in The Blog Guidebook's Top Blog of 2010 contest! This is such a busy time of year, and I am fully aware that voting for my blog is (rightfully so) at the bottom of your "to do" list, which makes me even more appreciative of your vote!

"Just Another Hang Up" survived the last cut and made it to the top five finalists for the Top Blog of 2010. Thanks to you!

The Blog Guidebook issued this statement yesterday:

We're going to mix it up a little this round and have everyone vote through COMMENTS. We know this is a little more time consuming, but we want to see how the numbers compare to the number of votes we've been receiving, just to make sure there aren't any discrepancies."

Round 5 voting starts today
Would you mind leaving a comment at

on the Blog Guidebook
Thank you once again!

Alrighty then, let's move on to the Give Away winner!
The winner of this month's
Etsy Give Away
is...

Taren has won a "gift certificate" that will enable her to choose from any item in my Etsy Shop! Soon the item of her choice will be wending its way to her home. Congratulations Taren!

Results for October's Give-Away Give-Away...

I'd like to thank everyone who participated in my Breast Cancer Awareness Give-Away Give-Away. I was touched by the beautiful tributes of those who entered the contest. Thank you for sharing your very personal stories and experiences with breast cancer survivors and their caregivers in such a sensitive and loving way. It's obvious those you nominated are some very brave and selfless souls. I wish I had a tote for every nominee as all were deserving, but only one can win...

This month "It's a Party!" goes to Happy Cottage Quilter who posted this sweet tribute about Carlee.

A Special Give-Away ... Give-Away

Did you know that this month is National Breast Cancer Awareness month? It's actually more than that. This month is the 25th anniversary that, as a nation, we have recognized October as the month to remember those lost, honor those who have survived and reiterate a commitment to finding a cure of breast cancer. I'm sure I would be hard pressed to find an individual who hadn't been affected by this disease. In honor of those who have contracted breast cancer and their caregivers and supporters, I am hosting an impromptu party and giving away this perfectly pink tote, named "It's a Party!"

Come join us for a celebration of life and love. In the title of this post it lists this contest as a "Give-Away ... Give-Away." That's because this contest is going to be a little different. You will still be submitting your name for a drawing via a comment below, but the lucky winner will have this tote sent to a person of his/her choosing. (Yes men, too, are encouraged to enter this contest for a special woman in his life.) That's why I say it's a "Give-Away" (from me to you) "Give-Away" (from you to someone of your choosing). When the winner is announced, I will acquire the address of the intended recipient from the winner and send it directly to that person with a note from the winner!

Here's where you come in. Most of us know someone who has been affected by breast cancer - whether the person has lived with the disease themselves or been a caregiver or supporter of one. It's a tough job to work your way to a healthier self when you've had cancer, but it is also challenging to be a caregiver or supporter of a loved one or close friend who has the disease. All are deserving of our support. Your job is to think of someone you know who has been affected by this disease and nominate them to receive this Hang Up if you should win. Please give us a little insight into what makes this person extra special to you. If, by chance, you are a breast cancer survivor, then by all means nominate yourself!

Here are the specifics of the contest...
  • Make a comment below and your name will be submitted into the contest.
  • Put a shout-out on your blog, by noon Friday, November 6th, and your name will be added two more times. (Make sure you let me know in an additional comment that you have posted a shout out.) Please spread the word.
  • In your comment, please mention the first name of the person and your relationship to the intended recipient should you win the drawing. Also, please give us a little insight as to why you admire this person. If you are a breast cancer survivor, then nominate yourself!
  • The recipient of this tote must live in the continental U.S. or Canada. (I will provide postage.)
  • Although each contestant can only nominate one person, the same person can be nominated more than once.
  • No anonymous comments. Please leave an email address or blog that I can visit. Private bloggers must leave their email address. If I don't have any way to contact you, your name will not be eligible.
This contest will run until midnight on Sunday, November 8. The winner of the contest will be announced the next morning.

September Tote Give-Away ... Chocolate Covered Raspberries

Have you ever had a chocolate covered raspberry? Ambrosial ... Heavenly ... Scrumptious ... are just a few words to describe that delectable combination. Those same words apply to the chocolate browns and raspberry pinks in this beautiful line of fabrics designed by Patty Young called "Andalucia." That's why I decided to name this tote "Chocolate Covered Raspberry." It's just plain yummy! I couldn't decide which of the three fabrics to use on this Hang Up, so I changed around my pattern a little to incorporate all three into this tote. Rich browns, mossy greens, pumpkin oranges, russet reds and raspberry pinks combine to make this tote perfect for autumn!

Here are the rules for this give-away!

1.) The participants must live within the continental U.S. or Canada. I will provide the postage.

2.) Each person that makes a comment below will have her name entered into the contest.

3.)
If you put a "shout out" on your blog about the contest, and come back and to give me a heads up I will enter your name two more times. (Trust me when I say it is worth it to add this shout-out. More often than not, these are the ladies that win!)

4.) No anonymous comments. Please leave an email address or blog that I can visit. Private bloggers must leave their email address. If I don't have any way to contact you, your name will not be eligible.

5.) This tote is not meant for resale. Only those intending to use the tote for personal use may register to win.

This contest will run through midnight Wednesday, September 16th. Thursday morning, September 17th, the winner will be announced!

It's Give-Away Time !

I agree with the woman to the left... Life's little ups and downs seem trivial when you're holding a matching handbag! Let's hope the winner for my July Give-Away has a little something hanging in her closet to match this cute tote.

Thanks to all those who signed up for the give-away this month. Wow -- we had quite a showing. Thank you for all your kind comments!

"Butterflies & Blooms" July Give-Away !

It's time to celebrate summer with this vibrant, colorful, and lively fabric from Mark Lipinski's line, Krakow! Love this sassy line of bold, beautiful prints. These fabrics would look luscious in most anything, but, being the tote lover that I am, I believe they must have been made especially for Hang Ups! I made this tote in the new pattern that I recently concocted...only two in existence! I just couldn't decided on which fabric should be more dominant, so I had to use all three on the outside of the tote! I've christened her "Butterflies & Blooms" -- the reasons seem obvious!

My Give-Aways have become increasingly complex lately, so I'm simplifying this one down to the basics. Here are the rules...

1.) The participants must live within the continental U.S. I will provide the postage.

2.) Each person that makes a comment below will have her/his name entered into the contest.

3.)
If you put a "shout out" on your blog about the contest, and come back and to give me a heads up I will enter your name one more time.

4.) No anonymous comments. Please leave an email address or blog that I can visit. Private bloggers must leave their email address. If I don't have any way to contact you, your name will not be eligible.

5.) This tote is not meant for resale. Only those intending to use the tote for personal use may register to win.

This contest will run through midnight Wednesday, July 15th. Thursday morning, July 16th, the winner of the contest will be announced.

Butterflies & Blooms it is!

The votes have been tallied and "Butterflies and Blooms" won by a slim margin. Just goes to show there are different strokes for different folks -- something we've known all along. Nevertheless, I will allow the majority to rule, and I'm going to whip up a tantalizing tote from these summery fabrics in the next couple of days! Thursday, July 9th, you'll be able to sign up for July's Hang Up Give-Away!

Just Around the Corner...

There's good news just around the corner. No, I'm not talking about a national holiday. Granted, I'm excited for that as well, but I'm yapping about my July Tote Give-Away. Yes, indeedy. Come to think of it, I think I'll celebrate the give-away and the holiday in one fell swoop! A red/white/and blue extravaganza -- or something along that line.

Mark Lipinksi's fabric from his Krakow line is perfect for the occasion. The Krakow collection features abstract florals and geometrics in bold, bright colors. Ideal for a shindig on any day, but perfect for celebrating the 4th of July!

So... here's the deal. Once again I'd love your help. There are three possible fabric combinations that I could make into a tote for the July Give-Away. Which one would you like to see whipped up and given away? There's a poll on my sidebar to cast your votes. Thanks so much for helping me decide!

1. Butterflies & Blooms:

2. Ravishing Reds:

3. Blue Blossoms:

"Treasure Island" is heading out the door...

This beautiful Caribbean turquoise creation has found a new home. "Treasure Island" will sail out the door later today. My thanks to all who participated in this month's Give-Away. I've read all your comments and appreciate your kind words and encouragement! I'm sorry that I wasn't able to reply to each of your comments as I was out of town the majority of last week and not in blogging mode. I would also like to compliment you on following the directions and rules of the contest so well. Apparently my threat to kick hiney worked as this contest was a great improvement over former contests! I especially appreciated those who helped me advertise the give-away by posting it on their blogs. An extra big "thank you!" to those lovely ladies.

Without further ado "Treasure Island" will heretofore be found hanging on this winning woman's shoulder...

Congratulations Debbie!

Just because the Give-Away is over, don't be a stranger! Check back May 28th for another Give-Away. This contest will feature something for that little girl in your life!

May Tote Give-Away... "Treasure Island" Contest Closed

It's time to celebrate spring! The sun is shining, flowers are blooming, birds are chirping, bees are humming and there's a tote to give-away! Earlier this month in a poll I asked my readers to choose the color of the tote for the give-away. Overwhelmingly the color "Caribbean Turquoise" was chosen. I have to admit I have a soft place in my heart for the turquoise color of the ocean in the Caribbean. Yum.

I chose some wondrous Amy Butler fabric from her Daisy Chain line to comprise this month's give-away, and I christened the Hang Up "Treasure Island." The lush floral fabrics and soothing color schemes in these fabrics remind me of the islands and, most certainly, the winner will carry a little bounty or treasure in this tote as she puts on her Hang Up to go shopping! Thus ... "Treasure Island" is a perfect name for this creation.

Here are the rules for the contest. Uhhh... Before I give you the rules, I feel impressed to reiterate that I will not make exceptions to these rules. I don't mean to sound huffy or persnickety, but every time I have a give-away I have contestants who try to reinvent my rules, but I'm here to tell you it doesn't work. I'm a stickler when it comes to playing fair -- just ask my kids. Please follow the rules and you'll be entered into the contest. If you don't follow the rules, your comment will be kicked out on its hiney. Trust me on that one. I'm a mother of seven -- I know how to kick a hiney. (Figuratively speaking, of course.) Alrighty then -- let's have some fun...

Here are the rules and conditions of the Give-Away...

1.) The participants must live within the continental U.S. I will provide the postage.

2.) Each person that makes a comment below will have her name entered into the contest.

3.)
If you put a "shout out" on your blog about the contest, and come back and let me know through another comment, I will enter your name two more times.

4.) All those who enter this contest and have already (by May 13th) commented on my blog in the month of May will have their name added one more time! Thank you for your kind comments!

5.) No anonymous comments, please. If you are not a close friend or relative whose email I already possess, you must leave an email address or blog that I can visit. Private bloggers must leave their email address. If I don't have any way to contact you, your name will not be eligible.

6.) This tote is not meant for resale. Only those intending to use the tote for personal use may register to win.

This contest will run through midnight Tuesday, May 19th. Wednesday morning, May 20th, the winner of the contest will be announced.

Good luck!

A Sneak Peak.... for May's Give-Away

A big "thank you" to all who participated in my poll this last week and helped select "Caribbean Turquoise" as the color that you would most like to see in my May Tote Give-Away! I was so happy that most of you chose that color because I just happened to have these beautiful, Caribbean turquoise Amy Butler prints in stock. So... I'm giving you a sneak peak of what's in store for the May Give-Away. I'll start that contest next week -- on Wednesday, May 13th.

These beautiful fabrics are from Amy Butler's, Daisy Chain, line. In the spirit of Art Nouveau, Daisy Chain offers a stylish and free spirited vision full of floral and garden styled motifs. The color schemes in these fabrics are a soothing, calm blend of mossy green, creamy vanilla, and limpid turquoise. Did I mention I love this fabric? Who wouldn't? The top fabric is named "Clematis," the middle is called "Kaleidoscope Leaf," and the bottom one was christened "Wildflowers." Can't wait to whip it up. Make sure you come back in a week and sign up for this contest!
