Baby Blanket. . .

These last seven weeks have been busy ones for our family. With two grandsons born within 2 1/2 weeks of each other, I haven't had much time for sewing or crafting. I haven't minded one little bit! ;o) My daughter, son-in-law and summer grandbaby #1 immigrated from our home in Colorado to North Carolina last Saturday. I'll miss them. A lot. Fortunately, summer grandbaby #3 is due in a week, and I'll be heading to their home soon to whip up some home-cooked meals, give some TLC to the new parents, scrub the floors, bathe some preschoolers and rock a new little granddaughter. I can't wait! In the meantime...

I don't crochet much. Mostly simple things, like scarves or an occasional afghan. Last week I decided to try my hand at a baby blanket for our soon-to-be granddaughter. I wanted to make it simple because I didn't feel like counting stitches. I bought this soft baby yarn and am about halfway done with the blanket. It's a quick project. I just made a chain of 115 stitches and did an easy double crochet across each row. There are some awesome tutorials on how to crochet on the internet if you're interested. I love how it's turning out -- not too heavy with kind of a lacy feel. I'll probably add a scalloped border around the edge.

I'm looking forward to getting back to creating some new projects in a few weeks, but it's felt good to be more involved in serving my family. Sometimes it's a good to remember that there are things much more important than sewing, painting, or Mod Podge. Ya know?
