Emery's Quilt ...

Here's the latest "Emery" quilt. The first quilt I made for this little two-year-old granddaughter was shipped off to Texas for flood relief efforts in October, so I whipped up another one for the kiddo. I love these adorable Little Red Riding Hood fabrics.

Emery is our two-year-old granddaughter with a ton of personality. She's the one that stands at the edge of the pool, yells "cannonball!" and belly flips into the pool. She needed a quilt full of color and a little sass.

Two colors that I don't put together a lot in "real" life are red and pink, but I have to admit that they have been a favorite color combination for granddaughter quilts this year. Red, pink, and white are so bright and cheerful...

I would love to see all of the quilts one more time! I've really enjoyed making quilts vicariously through you this year!

I am your sister Nancy's friend and have been following your blog. I had an even more serious fabric color blunder. My mother in law who sews beautifully for me was making drapes for our home. We took the wall paint sample with us to choose the fabric. We got a close match. She made the drapes and we hung them. Biggest surprise ever is that the fabric color looks much different with the sun shining through them. The color looked light beige or light taupe when we bought it, but hanging it looks gold. It is not awful, but much different than we planned. She made table runners and laying on the table the color is just right, but the drapes! I don't think I will ever have the chance to have custom made drapes again (my mother in law is 85!) and I am so grateful for them, but I just wish I had had the sense to hold the fabric up to the light in the shop!
I have enjoyed reading your blog. Happy Christmas to you and all those who get your lovely quilts.
