Etsy Give Away!

Labor Day weekend found my husband and I vacationing with my oldest son and his family. We had a lovely time. Here are some of the sights we saw and some things we did:
  • 6 days with nuthin' but grandkids and their parents (the best part)
  • traveled up a mountain in an aerial tram
  • rode a chairlift and came back down on an alpine slide
  • hiked up and through mountains to a beautiful waterfall
  • visited an aquarium
  • shopped in a long row of gift shops
  • experienced a downpour of rain the likes of which I have never seen or heard
  • enjoyed these beautiful views from our cabin

 The question is...
 WHERE WERE WE?

Here are a few more clues:
  •  our plane headed east as we left Denver
  • our cabin was on the perimeter of a national forest
  • black bears are a big deal in these here parts!

If you'd like a chance to win a gift from my Etsy, all you have to do is guess where we vacationed last weekend! Only the state or the National Park need to be named, but for extra credit you can name the town. Obviously, more than one person can choose the same place. The names of those who guess correctly will have their names put into a bowl and I will draw a winner. The winner will be able to choose her own wristlet, travel bag or dwipe from my Etsy! It's as simple as that!

No anonymous comments, please. I need an email address or accessibility to a public blog. Private bloggers --feel free to enter, but you'll need to leave your email address. If I don't have any way to contact you, your name will not be eligible.

This contest will run through midnight on Sunday, September 12th. Monday morning, September 13th the winner will be announced.

Good luck!

Funky Fresh Travel Bag

I've decided to have two lines of Travel Bags. I love the "Shabby Chic" line with romantic pastel designs, but I've decided to add a "Funky Fresh" line as well. I think this new line will appeal to another set of shoppers! It will have bold, bright colored fabrics -- often with a retro flare. This little bag is the first in this "Funky Fresh line... It's available in my Etsy shop.

So...here's my idea. Don't you think that one of these bags (or one like it), filled with a little crinkly Easter grass and a few chocolate Easter eggs would be a great little "basket" for a teenager or young adult for Easter. Me too. ;o)

Shabby Chic Bags

I made a few more Shabby Chic Travel Bags today. I'm trying to get as much sewing done as I can these next couple of weeks because I have a grandbaby due the first part of March and I'm going to be busy for awhile after he is born. (Yippeeee!) We're very excited for the birth of this little guy and we'll be so happy when he's here safe and sound. He will be grandchild #6. Yup, we're blessed. I'm grateful, I assure you. In the meantime, I'll continue to sew and count the days till his arrival!

Two more ...Shabby Chic Travel Bags

I made two more Shabby Chic Travel Bags. These fabrics are from the same "Simplicity" line by 3 Sisters for Moda. I really do love Moda fabrics and this line speaks to my heart. It's delicate colors are so easy on the eyes. I'll be adding these to my Etsy shop later today, but I thought I'd share them with you here too...

Shabby Chic Travel Bag

I've decided to try to sell a line of shabby chic travel bags. I actually think this tote could be used for a variety of purposes (cosmetics, fragrances, jewelry, lingerie, etc.) but for the time being I'll call it a "cosmetic bag." I think this is a viable product. It would make a fun gift with some crinkle paper and a few cosmetics or fragrances inside. They are feminine, roomy and practical. What more could you want?

This particular bag is made from fabric in the "Simplicity" line by 3 Sisters for Moda. This line has beautiful soft, subtle shades and I'll be making a few Cosmetic Bags from this line in the next few days.

Shhhhh...

I had so much fun making the Moda mini-tote (below) this morning that I decided to whip one up for a friend of mine who celebrated her birthday this week. I hope she likes it. A little birdie is guarding our secret until I give it to her tonight!

Shabby Chic

Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I won a give-away from the The Quilted Castle blog? (Oh, happy day!) Well, today I sat down and whipped up the little Moda bag from one of the Honey-Buns I was awarded. It takes some time to sew the fabric strips together in this darling mini-tote, but the Moda instructions are a breeze and I think it turned out adorable. I'm calling her "Shabby Chic"! This mini-tote is 9"x7"x3". It's the perfect size for a little cosmetic bag or a jewelry tote for traveling. I might even try my hand at selling these little totes in the future.

This one is going to go to a special someone for Valentine's Day. Thank you again, Quilted Castle, for giving me this darling pattern and fabric. Your generosity is appreciated!
