Ric-Racked Halloween "Trick or Treat Bag"

Last week I published the tutorial for my candy corn "Trick or Treat Bag!" Today I'm going to explain how to make this ric-racked version of a Halloween bag...

This is a sturdy bag that can be used on Halloween night year after year. It measures 7 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches high by 3 inches deep with 13 inch handles. The bag has plenty of room for goodies but is easily managed by little hands.

To make this Halloween tote, follow the instructions for my Lil' Girl Springtime Tote, substituting the pattern measurements below for the ones in the Springtime pattern. Also, ignore Steps 10, 11, and 22 that reference the addition of the flower in the Springtime tote.

Pattern for ric-racked "Trick or Treat Bag"...

Tote front:
1 - 6" x 11" cotton fabric
1 - 2.5" x 11" cotton fabric
1 - 4.5" x 11" cotton fabric

Tote Back:
1 - 11" x 11" cotton fabric

Lining:
2 - 11" x 11" (contrasting) cotton fabric

Straps:
2 - 3.5" x 14" cotton fabric

Fusible Fleece Interfacing:
2 - 3/4" x 14"
2 - 11" x 11"

Optional: Jumbo ric-rac

Use 1/2" seams throughout.

{Look at those freaky little eyeballs in the lining below. Yikes!}

To add Ric-Rac :

Simply tuck the ric-rac into the seam of the front strips of fabric and sew.

Happy Haunting!
