Much to do...

I'm so excited. There are many good things happening in our lives right now. First of all, in a week or so another little grandson will be joining the family. Can't get much better than that. Even the little one's "big" brother is getting ready for his arrival. He's practicing parenting skills on his bear in the photo to the left. ;o) Can't wait for the arrival of this new little one. This will bring the total of grandchildren up to seven... four boys and three girls. Heaven.

Then, of course, we are still in the throws of wedding preparations. The big event is about a month away and a lot of my time recently has been spent on preparations for the pre-wedding dinner the night before. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are hosting a Colorado-style BBQ. A western affair, if you will. It has been fun preparing for it. The invitations went out yesterday. They were designed by a friend of mine that is an expert in card making. Honestly, that girl can create a card like no other. (And she does create them for me time and time again with a smile on her face. She's one patient, sweet friend.) They were a labor-intensive card, but worth the time it took for me to crank out the bunch! About a month ago the bride and groom were visiting and had their engagement photos taken. Angie is a wonderful photographer. Love her work. The following photo was taken and we used it on the invitation. Here's what we ended up with for the invitation to the BBQ. I love how they turned out...

About a month I ago started thinking about centerpieces for the serving tables. I wanted the centerpieces to reflect the rustic, western theme. I thought about cat tails and dried grasses -- heaven knows, we've got enough of those around here, but this is summer and I wanted more color than that, so I bought some galvanized steel cans and collected a few other "tin" cans I had around and planted some grasses and flowers in them. "Wildflowers" was the theme I had in mind. They are filling in nicely and I think they'll be the perfect size by the time the wedding comes around...

I'm excited about how things are coming together, but enough about me... I'd love to know what you've been doing lately. How about it -- what's been on your agenda, of late?
